Virgin Trains

West Coast Main Line

I hope Virgin take a lead from their new East Coast franchise. Their new beef and ale stew with cobbler is a delight. I’m not the only one to have enjoyed this recently. Today’s offering was a trio of sandwiches. Ham and cheese – the cheese had no taste, Coronation chicken (fruity flavour) and tune with cucumber (spoiled by too much mayo) – was above average. But the bacon bagette was just palatable. The roll was soggy in parts and crisp in others and the bacon plastic. Even brown sauce failed to perk this limp offering up. So, do yourself a favour Virgin. Have another look at the offering. The staff – mostly very obliging – can only do so much. Oh,almost forgot, try the Tilting Bitter, specially made for Virgin Trains by Redwillow Brewery of Macclesfield. It’s really bitter and the taste is distinctive.
