Walk through the front door of The Cults Hotel and you instantly feel at home. There is no greater compliment I can pay to this vastly under-rated three star. It has the warmth and charm and you instantly relax. The staff are a joy and are happy to answer questions about the local area. My top floor room overlooked the hills and the Autumn colours on the trees were wonderful. The rooms are well-furnished, spotlessly clean and tidy and the bed provided one of the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a hotel in ages. The shower was so simple to work and it had real power. Externally, Cults is not just ideally suited for the thriving city of Aberdeen, it is also on the way to Royal Deeside. Golf dominates the decor and therefore it is no surprise that the family-owned hotel enjoys a close relationship with Deeside Golf Club. Other sports such as clay pigeon shooting, game shooting and outdoor bowling can also be arranged. I preferred to go for a stroll and was not disappointed, quickly picking up the former old Deeside line which has now been turned into a walkway. So, in summary, the Cults Hotel is one of the best I’ve stayed at in ages. And that’s not just my view but of my colleague who spent over 200 nights in hotels last year.
