Terrace Restaurant, London Zoo

We enjoyed our trip to London Zoo. It’s been a while since I last visited, but I gulped at the prices in the Terrace.

A bill of £6.50 for a filled bagette (harissa chicken). It was tasty but wow. I realise it is a captive audience but that is pricey. If you fancied a meal it was over £11 for fish and chips and peas (not a big portion) or over £7 for a small pizza.

Kids meals were around £5. And it is so busy with staff struggling to clear tables.

It is families who are being encouraged to come to the zoo where they pump the conservation message. The announcer at the penguin pool detailed why single use plastic bottles were a no-no and urged clients to use a re-usable container. They have them in the shop and I noted a price of over £12. I baulked at that even with London Zoo on it.

Zoo bosses want to encourage people to come. It is over £32 for an adult entry and over £22 for kids three and over. Add the meals and that is an expensive day out.
