I strolled on towards Leicester Square and en route to Piccadilly Circus the smell hit me. Chinatown. I couldn’t resist. I had looked at the menu and peered inside the premises which looked promising. The stylish interior with spotless linen tablecloths with firm edge was a giveaway. And, you know what, the two-year-old restaurant, specialising in Szechuan and Guangdong, plus traditional Chinese food, was a delight. The service and the attention to detail deserves praise so do the staff, all smiles and super efficient. I ordered beef brushed with red wine with black pepper, ginger and spring onions plus egg fried rice. It arrived within minutes. The rice was superb and the beef was packed with flavour. A tad sweet for me but, nonetheless, extremely palatable. Then, totally unexpectedly, a glass plate with slices of green apple, grapes and part of a deliciously, juicy sliced orange was offered. A neat touch and well received, the succulent orange proving a real palate cleanser. It was bustling and I’ll be back.
