Paanshee was recommended and this 200-seat Bangladeshi restaurant lived up to expectations. Customers come from all over North Wales and no wonder.
The menu is substantial and that can be a problem but all our dishes were cooked to perfection. I was particularly taken by the innovative nature of one of the chef’s specials.
Welsh lamb sathe certainly celebrated Cymru. The dish won through to the national final of a curry competition and it is easy to see why.
It was cooked with onions, red/green peppers, tomatoes, curry leaves, lemon grass and delicately marinated in a special sauce and spices. The eye-catching dish arrived with stir fried, sautéed leeks and mushrooms in malyka style and served with pilau rice. All the individual flavours were discernible and the dish, created by the chef, who, incidentally, motors from Manchester every day, wonderfully innovative.
My companions were both pleased with their dishes, a chayta biryani and a chicken korma. Both asked for the heat to be taken out and that was done.
So keen are they to please that if there is a dish that you like and is not on the menu then they will endeavour to recreated it for you. Diners are also welcome to visit their kitchens.
