It was handy, seconds from the front door of our hotel on a damp, uninviting night. We also didn’t know the place. I went in a crowd. The staff were accommodating and the ambience good despite it being a huge restaurant sparcely populated on a Monday night. In the party was an Italian who had never experienced a pizza chain meal before. She was pleasantly surprised. So was I by the dough balls (with chilli and pesto sauce) and the bruschetta originale. The bruschetta con funghi (chestnut and closed cup mushrooms, béchamel sauce with red onions and finished with chopped parsley and balsamic syrup) also looked the part. One of my associates picked a Sloppy Guiseepe pizza, hot spiced beef with green pepper, red onion, mozzarella cheese and tomato. Good choice. Sadly, my new recipe Rustichella was a major let down. Basically, it is pancetta, mozzarella and tomato finished with rocket (far too much of it, frankly), Gran Movavia cheese, roasted tomatoes and Caesar dressing. The taste didn’t flood out. Top marks, however, goe to the website. It is user friendly and has a dietry section with lots of alternatives.
