It was Baltic in Bonnybridge and I was looking for a takeaway coffee and Mango came into view. It looked good and the prospect of hot food and warmth proved irresistible.
I was also intrigued by the split menu with Indian and Italian choices. The Mango philosophy is: “The restaurant is all about passion and great cuisine.”
High ideals and could they match-up? Well, they certainly good. The décor is pleasingly contemporary – mosaic on one wall was a feature – and the staff are friendly and extremely helpful.
It appears that Mango is a place of gathering, a place of celebration, a place for business and a place for pleasure. It was spotless.
I plumped for the Italian option and Chef Mario take a bow. My freshly-baked bruschetta Tricolor topped with a cream of avocado, cherry tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella and basil oil (veggi option) was packed with flavour and possibly the best bruschetta I’ve ever tasted.
And the main, pollo al 4 formaggi, a succulent breast of chicken cooked in a sauce made of four Italian cheeses, served with fresh caponata, was superb and the bill was £9.95.
This restaurant is seriously good and my only black mark was that they did not serve the main course on a hot plate. I would have no hesitation in recommending it.
I don’t know when I’ll be back in Bonnybridge – it is not on my usual route but minutes off the M80 – but if I am I’ll be back. This is highly-recommended.
