Aberdeen’s oldest snug bar – dating back 300 years – stands the test of time and Ma Cameron’s is part of the Granite City’s drinking culture. Ask any student to name a pub in the city and they generally say Ma’s. I love the snug bar but the large bar still has character. That’s where we had lunch. A warming plate of pea and ham soup went down well as did a huge portion of haddock and chips. My steak and ale pie was tasty but lacked filling. Ma’s has a selection of lagers and beers but Belhaven IPA is a regular at this former coaching inn. So is Lia Fail brewed by Inveralmond in Perth. Good first taste but my affection wavered as I went further down the glass. By the end of the half pint I had had enough and I would have moved on. That was my only disappointment. Basically, I like Ma’s.
