Jenny Burn, Glasgow

We had just watched Scotland women edge the Czech Republic in a nail-biting, vital qualifier in the EuroHockey Championship II.
The clock was ticking towards 8pm and it was teeming with rain. We were hungry and we remembered passing The Jenny Burn just outside Shawfield dog track.
We also noted that the pub/restaurant had a sizeable car park and not knowing the area that well it seemed to tick boxes.
It turned out to be a real find. Service from our mature male water was slick, the pub classic food was just as it said on the menu, and the drink selection was enough to suit most apart from real ale enthusiasts.
Our choice was lasagne, scampi, fish and chips and steak and ale pie. The plates were hot, the food piping hot and the meal could not be faulted.
The atmosphere was homely and the toilets were immaculate so. This restaurant was good value and watch out for their specials including pizza for fiver and two for a tenner on pub classics (all day Monday to Friday).
They also have a children’s play are inside and out and the restaurant is next door to a park with duck pond and near Glasgow Green, one of the city’s well-used open spaces with activities including hockey and football.
Finally, I’ve noted some of the comments on social media sites, well our experience was extremely positive.
We’ll definitely be back and if we are travelling on the motorway through Glasgow then it is handily placed to slip off and have a bite to eat. So, staff at The Jenny Burn, take a bow.
