This busy pub is just off the M6 near leafy Holmes Chapel. It is an ideal point to stop over if you are driving from Scotland to deepest England. It also allows you to see some of affluent Cheshire, towns like Knutsford with its McLaren dealership on the common.
For star-gazers, Jodrell Bank Observatory hosts a number of radio telescopes including a huge dish which dominates the skyline. There is a visitor centre.
Our room was in a block outwith the main building which houses a busy pub (there are real ales) which was packed with diners. The room was small but enjoyed all the amenities. The mattress was uncomfortable hence we didn’t get a great sleep but the continental breakfast was adequate. Sadly, they did not have an alternative to cows milk.
Also, my wife left her coat in the wardrobe. We called to alert the staff but they failed to call us back and failed to find it. Disappointing customer care but this was good value.
