Anchor Tap – London

A beautifully atmospheric tavern in central London. What did we think?

RATING: Food (did not try): Drink selection: 3.5; Ambience 4: Toilets 3; website 1.5, Total:11.5/20

It started to rain. I’d sheltered under the arch of Tower Bridge for five minutes and it was packed. So, I ventured forth with the brolly up and within seconds, down a lane, I spotted the Anchor Tap. Wonderfully atmospheric pub to chill out after braving the crowds – boy it was busy – on Tower Bridge. The Anchor Tap is 250-years old and has a good custom of locals and tourists. It sits just behind some chic, new flats with a hefty price tag. The Samuel Smiths bitter was good and it’s just a pity that I didn’t have time to stay for a bite to eat.
