Less than a mile from the M74, a definite pit stop for us

WORD-OF-MOUTH recommendation is the best barometer and a colleague suggested this homely establishment and its pub grub. She was 100 per cent correct. Hazel’s home-made steak pie served with carrots, cabbage and new potatoes was superb. A puff pastry top hid thick gravy and a pleasing amount of filling. The varied, value menu, including vegetarian dishes, will suit most people. And the friendly regulars in the bar – which stocks beers including Carlsberg and Bellhaven Best – now makes this a must stop for me if I’m coming home on the M74. It’s less than a mile from Junction 15.
